EPHEMERA

Four algorithms hang four works composed at the instant you arrived. They were not designed; they were seeded. Close this window and the exhibition is gone — return, and the gallery hangs another.

ROOM I
ROOM IFLOW · CURL-NOISE STREAMLINES

Two thousand particles ride a divergence-free noise field until their ink runs out. No stroke is ever retraced, and none will occur again.

ROOM IILATTICE · GOLDEN-RATIO SUBDIVISION

A plane cut and re-cut at the golden section until the cells refuse to divide. A few are gilded — the algorithm alone decides which.

ROOM IIISTRATA · SEDIMENT & EROSION

Sediment laid down in seconds instead of centuries, then cut by erosion. Look closely for fossils — every visit buries different ones.

ROOM IVBLOOM · SYMMETRIC BOTANICAL GROWTH

A branching grammar grown under n-fold symmetry, terminating in petals. Botany, minus the biology.

Curatorial note

How a visit is hung

When you arrived, the gallery asked your browser for thirty-two bits of entropy. That number is your edition, and it seeds a deterministic random stream — a mulberry32 generator, for the record-keepers — which then makes every decision on these walls: which of six palettes to grind, where each particle is born, which cell is gilded, where the strata crack, how many ways the bloom repeats itself.

Nothing is stored and nothing is fetched. The same seed always hangs the same show — pass someone the edition link below and they will stand in this exact room. Press New Visit, and it never existed.
